Instraction Course
The 16th Asia Oceania ORL-HNS Congress will offer four Instruction Courses on the afternoon of March 23. Each course will be led by a Japanese expert in otology, rhinology, head and neck, and laryngology, providing one-on-one instruction in practical techniques.
Participation will require prior registration, and seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is scheduled to open in late September.
Otology
TEES (Transcanal Endoscopic Ear Surgery) Hands-on Course
This hands-on course provides practical TEES training using high-fidelity ear surgery models. Faculty will demonstrate each surgical step, and participants will then perform the same procedure on their own model under close guidance.
Course Format
- 5 stations (5 participants per station)
- 3 rotating sessions — 15 participants in total
- Faculty demonstrate each step; participants then perform the same procedure on their own model

Procedure Steps
- Tympano-meatal flap elevation
- Identification of the chorda tympani nerve and ossicles
- Posterior canal wall removal / stapes surgery
- Incus removal and mastoid antrum enlargement
- Type IViM tympanoplasty
- (Time permitting) Cochlear implant insertion under ORBEYE guidance, using a dedicated model

Rhinology
ESS Hands-on Course
This hands-on course provides personalized ESS training using a high-fidelity 3D-printed sinonasal model developed and manufactured by Fusetec, Australia.
Each participant will receive one-to-one instruction from experienced rhinologists, with practical and didactic guidance throughout the session.
Standard FESS (Unilateral for a participant)
Comprehensive right- or left-sided ESS, including:
- Uncinectomy
- Middle meatal antrostomy
- Anterior and posterior ethmoidectomy
- Sphenoidotomy
- Frontal sinusotomy

Type II Thyroplasty Hands-on Course
This hands-on course provides comprehensive training in Type II thyroplasty using titanium bridges for the treatment of adductor spasmodic dysphonia.
Participants will learn the indications, surgical principles, and essential techniques of Type II thyroplasty through focused lectures, surgical video demonstrations, and practical implantation training. During the hands-on session, participants will practice the key surgical steps using three-dimensional thyroid cartilage models and laryngeal specimens under the close supervision of experienced laryngeal surgeons.
